Due to ongoing hard work by gfav and the committee of the bass game fishing club
8/2/10 , Today the BSGFC received and exemption for the taking and tagging of makos in federal waters,
We have been granted this by Rose Webb Compliance and Enforcement Branch Of The
Department Of The Enviromnent,Water,Heritage And The Arts,
We have been granted this exemption for our commitment in promoting sustainable fishing practices including
encouraging tag and release.
BSGFC wish to thank all involved in submissions sent in along with emails and phone calls
And those that put in endless hours behind the scenes,
This is just one step in many, And we will try to get any other information out as soon as possible

It would seem common sense has prevailed and Mr garret and his department have agreed to implement changes to the EPBC act commencing as soon as parliment reurn on the 2nd february 2010

Proving that with a bit of effort we can make a difference
The Commitee have decided not to weigh any mako sharks as of the 29th Jan 2010 until the ban is lifted through correct legislation
all other gamefish can and will be weighed
during a recent trip to Port Macdonnall the lads on home strait tagged a mako with a sat tag
